George Berry's Bio
George Berry started at MAP in February 2019, bringing a wide variety of administrative and performance experience. Previously, he held various communications positions, including for the New York Philharmonic; as a consultant for the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra; for music downloading Web site HDtracks.com and its co-owner, multi-Grammy-nominated composer David Chesky; and for the JCC Thurnauer School of Music. George has experience in operations management with The Curtis Institute of Music, and in librarianship with both Curtis and the Boston Symphony Orchestra. A professional trombonist, George has been performing with the Somerset Symphony Orchestra since 2016; was a member of the Garden State Opera Orchestra for eight seasons and NYC’s Greenwich Village Orchestra for 15 seasons; toured the U.S. and Canada in the pit orchestra for Bye, Bye, Birdie; and continues to enjoy a varied performance career in the New York City area. He has performed with musicians from The Philadelphia Orchestra and is on the trombone “call list” for the Gulf Coast Symphony in Fort Myers, Fla. George holds a master’s degree in public relations and a bachelor’s degree in music from Boston and Northwestern universities, respectively.
